Red Man´s Words
An Illustrated Poetry Book by
TR Whitefox
My Story
I'm a Kiowa full blood from Oklahoma, raised in the house of a medicine man, Whitefox; raised in the Kiowa tradition. My parents were the best singers, they influenced me in my singing and songwriting.
In 1975 I quit drinking alcohol and started writing poetry. "I had a dream, I had a prayer, I had a vision I'm going somewhere" -- that was my first poem I ever wrote.
This book is a reflection of native life.
This book is for all Native people who go through the same things.
This book is a poetry of devotion and an awareness of Native traditional values taught through oral tradition by the Elders in order to maintain our Native wisdom as Native human beings on our land.
